Pater Superni Luminis

Italian original Cite

PATER SUPERNI LUMINIS. - Hymn of Vespers for the feast of St. Mary Magdalene, composed by St. Robert Bellarmine.

The scene that took place in Simon's house, in which the sinful woman bathes Jesus' feet with her tears and, having dried them with her hair, covers them with sweet perfumes, is here described in vivid colors. The poet seeks to exalt the miracle of Grace and Redemption.
