**REASON AND FAITH** – A monthly journal founded in Madrid in September 1901 by the Jesuits.
As suggested by its title, the periodical’s aim has always been to address current issues by drawing upon both faith and reason, which it considers easily reconcilable. The journal, which covers general culture, is widely circulated in all Spanish-speaking nations. It was the first in Spain to publish Pius XI’s encyclical *Mit brennender Sorge*.
Notable writers have contributed to *R. y F.*: historians such as F. Fita, Z. García Villada, and C. Rodele; literary figures like Luis Coloma and J. Alarcón; and specialists including L. Murillo, J. Urráburu, and R. Ruiz Amiano.
