Rycerz Niepokalanej (Il Cavaliere dell'Immacolata)

RYCERZ NIEPOKALANEJ (Il Cavaliere dell'Immacolata). - Periodical founded in Kraków in 1922 by Fr. Maximilian Kolbe O.F.M. Conv., killed by the Germans in 1941, in the concentration camp of Oświęcim (Auschwitz).

The C. dell'I. had been conceived by its founder as an illustrated monthly magazine to spread devotion to and the cult of the Immaculate. It was published in Polish at Niepokalanów (= City of the Immaculate, 42 km from Warsaw) from 1927 to 1939; it was suspended by the German authorities during the war. On one of his missionary journeys to Japan, Fr. Kolbe also created in Nagasaki in 1930 an edition of the C. dell'I. in Japanese, with the title Mungenzai Ne Sono.
