SALA, ANTONIO LUDOVICO. — Cultivator of medicine, born in Aicurzio (Milan) on 30 April 1857, died in Rome on 1 October 1936. Having entered the Conceptionists (1879), he was ordained a priest on 30 November 1904.
Graduated in surgery and phlebotomy at the University of Rome, he furthered his studies under the influence of the Vienna dermatological school. He devoted himself to therapeutic experimentation, particularly in herbal science, and prepared numerous specific remedies such as *eczeiasi*, *psoracesi*, *anticalvizie*, etc. These preparations formed the therapeutic core of the method still in use at the Dermopathic Institute of the Immaculate, which he founded in Rome in 1901. He illustrated his dermatological therapy methods in articles and pamphlets (*Nuovo trattamento di alcune malattie della pelle*, Milan 1927, etc.), particularly concerning certain then-incurable diseases such as lupus, ringworm, and eczema.
