Hail, Wounds of Christ

«SALVETE CHRISTI VULNERA». – Hymn of Lauds for the Blood (v.), by an unknown author of the eighteenth century (cf. U. Chevalier, Repert. hymnologicum, II, Louvain 1897, no. 18329).

The greeting addressed to the wounds of Christ and the evocation of the episodes of the Passion are followed by an insistent invitation to the sinner to come and wash his sins in this blood.
