San Pedro Sula, Apostolic Vicariate of

SAN PEDRO SULA, VICARIATO APOSTOLICO of. — It is situated Honduras (v.).

It was established by decree of the S. Congr. of Propaganda on 2 February 1916, when the ecclesiastical province of Tegucigalpa was established. The erection, however, was carried out in 1921.

It has an area of 35,260 sq. km., with a population of 187,566 inhabitants, of whom 171,185 are Catholics. Lazarist missionaries 15, brothers 1, sisters 20. Primary stations 8, secondary stations 5, churches 20, chapels 41, elementary schools 4.
