SAINT ANDREW AND PROVIDENCE, APOSTOLIC PREFECTURE OF. - It is located in the Caribbean Sea east of Nicaragua and comprises the islands of St. Andrew, Providence and St. Catherine.

It was erected as a mission sui iuris by decree of the Sacred Congregation Consistorial on 20 June 1912 and entrusted to the Mill Hill Society, and on 20 May 1926 to the Capuchins. On 14 Nov. 1946 it was elevated to a prefecture. It has an area of about 52,000 sq km with about 7000 inhabitants, of whom about 1750 are Catholics and 2630 Protestants. There are 5 fathers, 20 sisters, 2 parishes, 3 primary stations, 5 secondary, 16 elementary schools, 1 middle school.
