ALESSIO DA SEGALA, of Salò. — Capuchin preacher and ascetical writer, born in Salò in 1558, entered the Order in 1580, died in Brescia on 8 January 1628.

He wrote ascetical booklets collected in *Opere spirituali*, Venice 1623; 1637; 1643 with additions. Of a practical bent, he instructs and engages the soul in the struggle against vice and the pursuit of virtue in *Pratica singolare*, Brescia 1611, and in *Via sicura del Paradiso*, ibid. 1617. In *Trionfo delle anime del Purgatorio*, ibid. 1620, he urges exercises in their suffrage; to this end he founded a confraternity in Brescia and elsewhere.
