TEETAERT, AMEDEO da ZEDELGEM. - Capuchin theologian, b. at Zedelgem (Bruges) on 3 March 1892, d. at Rome on 2 March 1949.
Ordained priest on 19 February 1921, he applied himself with ever broader competence to studies on positive theology in the Middle Ages with La confession aux laïques dans l'Eglise latine depuis le VIIIe jusqu'au XIVe siècle (Wetteren 1926). Published posthumously: L'autre questions inédites de Gérard d'Abbeville pour la défense de la supériorité du clergé séculier, in Archivio ital. per la storia della Pietà, I, Rome [1951], pp. 83-178. From the beginning (1931) until his death he held the editorship of Collectanea franciscana (v.), where he also oversaw the compilation of a Bibliographia franciscana, in which he gave particular prominence to the survey of writers and doctrines. Numerous, and some very extensive, were his entries on Franciscan and medieval subjects in the DThC, from 1928, the DHG and the DDC.
