TEETAERT, AMEDEO da ZEDELGEM. - Capuchin theologian, b. at Zedelgem (Bruges) on 3 March 1892, d. at Rome on 2 March 1949.
Ordained priest on 19 Feb. 1921, he devoted himself with ever broader competence to studies in positive theology in the Middle Ages with La confession aux laïques dans l'Eglise latine depuis le VIIIe jusqu'au XIVe siècle (Wetterem 1926). Published posthumously was: L'autre questions inédites de Gérard d'Abbeville pour la défense de la supériorité du clergé séculier, in Archivio ital. per la storia della Pietà, I, Rome [1951], pp. 83-178. From its beginning (1931) until his Collectanea franciscana (v.), where he also oversaw the compilation of a Bibliographia franciscana, in which he gave particular prominence to the survey of writers and doctrines. Numerous, and some very extensive, were his entries on Franciscan and medieval subjects in the DThC, from 1928 onward, and in the DHG and DDC.
