SEMENENKO, PIETRO. - Co-founder and general of the Congregation of the Resurrection, theologian, preacher, philosopher, ascetical writer and mystic, born at Tykocin (Poland) in 1814, died in Paris in 1886 in a reputation for holiness, buried in the Campo Verano in Rome. He was Consultor of the Sacred Congregations of the Index and of the Holy Office. He founded the Polish College in Rome.
Besides various volumes of sermons, apologetical and ascetical writings, he published: Tovianski et sa doctrine, Paris 1852; Sull'Averro, Rome 1861; S. Pietro autore della Civiltà, ibid. 1868; Quid Papa et quid Episcopatus ex aeterna et divina ratione, ibid. 1871; Recensio Actorum et Decretorum Conc. Prov. Alba-Juliensis et Fogarosiensis Graeci Ritus celebrati in Basilicia Basiliensi A. D. 1872.
