**THERIN-BONESIO, Ludovico.** - Capuchin theologian, b. in Turin on 27 Aug. 1705, entered the Order on 22 Sept. 1720, d. in Bobbio on 28 July 1780. He served as general secretary (1740), provincial (1746), definitor, procurator, and postulator of the Order (1747–1761).
As postulator, he worked diligently for the cause of St. Veronica Giuliani. Appointed bishop of Bobbio in 1766, he recognized the need for a uniform popular catechism for all parishes in the diocese and, drawing inspiration from Bossuet’s *Catéchisme du diocèse de Meaux* (1687), composed a *Compendio della dottrina cristiana* (Cremona, n.d.), which was highly praised and reprinted several times. His work influenced the *Catechismo ad uso di tutte le chiese del Regno d’Italia*, promulgated in Milan in 1807 by Cardinal G. Caprara at the behest of Viceroy Eugène Napoléon.
