TOMMASO of MARGA. — Nestorian bishop and writer, b. at Beit Saronajé.
He became a monk in the monastery of Beit 'Abé and became secretary to Patriarch Abraham II, who consecrated him about 850 bishop of Marga and later metropolitan of Beit Marga. He wrote a history of the monastery of Beit 'Abé under the title History of the Superiors, which provides valuable information on monastic life and ecclesiastical events, including Nestorian missions.
