TRUSZKOWSKA, Maria Angela. – Foundress of the Sisters of St. Felix of Cantalice (Felician Sisters), of the Third Order of St. Francis; born Sofia Camilla on 16 May 1825 in Kalisz (Poland), died in Cracow on 10 October 1899.
As a penitent of Fr. Onorato Kozmiński (q.v.), a Capuchin, she founded with several companions on 21 November 1854 in Warsaw a hospice for abandoned children. From this beginning there arose (1857), under the direction of Fr. Onorato, the new Congregation, which proposed to make reparation for the offences offered to Jesus in the Most Holy Sacrament through adoration and works of charity. After twelve years of governance and thirty of physical and moral suffering, the Servant of God died in a reputation for holiness. In 1947 an informative process on her virtues was begun in Cracow with a view to her beatification.
