AIACE. – Galatian adventurer, at first Catholic, then Arian. Idacius calls him senior arrianus, an expression interpreted differently by historians. A priest or bishop according to some, a man of authority among the Arians according to others, A. has gone down in history as the Arian apostle
of the Suebi of Galicia (Spain). In 465 he succeeded in converting to Arianism King Remismond, a Catholic, who had received military assistance from Theodoric II, king of the Visigoths, in order to conquer the throne and his bride. The people followed the king into heresy and remained faithful to it for almost a century.
