AIROLDI ALIPRANDI, CESARE. — Priest, born in Milan on 26 October 1800, died there on 3 January 1891. He was first in the seminary at Monza, then in Milan, and obtained his degree at Pavia. Because of his political ideas, he was unable to take up teaching and devoted himself in Milan to pastoral ministry and preaching. He courageously supported the patriots during the preparations for the Five Days and, throughout them, devoted himself to administering the sacraments to the wounded and to all who took up arms. During the reactionary decade he kept apart, dedicating himself to works of apostolate and preaching. After 1859 he advocated an agreement between Church and State, and was equally well regarded and esteemed by the civil and ecclesiastical authorities.
