Airoldi Aliprandi, Cesare

AIROLDI ALIPRANDI, CESARE. - Priest, b. in Milan on 26 Oct. 1800, d. there on 3 Jan. 1891. He was in the seminary first at Monza, then at Milan, and took his degree at Pavia. Because of his political ideas he could not devote himself to teaching and dedicated himself in Milan to the pastoral ministry and to preaching. He courageously supported the patriots in the phase of preparation for the Five Days and during them he exerted himself in administering the sacraments to the wounded and to all who rushed to arms. During the reactionary decade he kept himself apart, dedicating himself to works of the apostolate and to preaching. After 1859 he advocated agreement between Church and State, which was equally well regarded and esteemed by the civil and the ecclesiastical authorities.
