ALCIATI, TERENZIO. – Theologian and historian, born in Rome on 15 November 1570, died there on 12 November 1651. He became a Jesuit in 1591. At the suggestion of Urban VIII, he began a history of the Council of Trent, intended to counter that of Sarpi, gathering from the archives valuable material that later served Pallavicini. He was a member of the commission for the reform of the Roman Breviary. He was also one of the examiners appointed by the Superior General to report on Lessio’s doctrine concerning the formal cause of justification.
