Alovisiani, Giacomo Battista

ALOVISIANI, GIACOMO BATTISTA. - Augustinian, born in Ravenna toward the end of the 1400s, died ca. 1510. He lived almost his whole life in the convent of S. Stefano in Venice, devoted to teaching, in friendship with the most renowned scholars of his time. Sabellico states that he was greatly helped by him in compiling his history (Epist., IX, 443). He wrote on philosophy, history and theology. Among other works: De Aurelii Augustini rebus commentaria, and Theoremata de corpore Christi.
