AGOSTINO da Ascoli. - Augustinian. He was among the first Doctors of his Order after the union, and carried out his scholarly activity toward the end of the 13th century. Master in theology, regent of the Studium at Padua, he was appointed by Boniface VIII as apostolic confessor for the entire world. He left commentaries on the books of Aristotle’s Physics and on the *Sentences* of Peter Lombard; lectures on Holy Scripture and expositions of the Gospels for the entire year.
