FRIENDS OF THE CLERGY. - A Catholic weekly for the clergy, published continuously since 1 November 1878 and widely circulated in France, Belgium and Canada (published in Paris during its first ten years, and from 1889 in Langres). It provides the clergy with aids for pastoral life and attends to their intellectual needs, with answers to canonical, liturgical and moral queries; chronicles of dogmatic theology, exegesis and ecclesiastical history; surveys of periodicals and book reviews. A supplement for preaching is now published with separate numbering. The periodical is edited by learned churchmen, who often remain anonymous; for many years it was directed by Msgr. Fr. Perriot (1839-1910).
