Friends of Sacred Art

AMICI DELL'ARTE SACRA. — The papal provisions concerning sacred art, issued in 1925, provide for the establishment in every diocese, under the authority of the local Commission for Sacred Art, of a “Society of Friends of Sacred Art” which, extending from the diocesan see to the more distant parishes or churches through parish groups, is to promote everything that tends toward the beautification, decorum, and cleanliness of churches. This institution is strictly hierarchical in character and in many cases is presided over by the bishop himself or by the president of the diocesan commission (v. ARTE SACRA).
