ANGELA della PACE. - Dominican secular tertiary, b. 25 Dec. 1610 at Morchiano, d. at Naples on 21 Oct. 1662. From her earliest years, A. Maria Caterina practiced harsh penances and was favored with extraordinary graces and visions; at the age of twelve she took up residence with the Benedictine nuns of Lauro. In 1625 she took the Dominican habit in the church of S. Maria della Sanità in Naples, having as her spiritual director Fr. Cornelio d'Avitabile. After his death, she had directors from the Order of Discalced Carmelites, near whom she lived her last years.

Among various remarkable charisms, she was familiar with the Child Jesus, the Madonna, various saints and angels. After having borne the wounds of the Lord for two years, she received the wound in her side on Holy Thursday of 1634. She was moreover an angel of charity. She was buried in the chapel of the Crucifix of the church of the Discalced Carmelites, in Naples, and the Dominican chapter of 1670 inserted a eulogy of her in its acts.
