ANTONIO da FUENTELAPEÑA. - Spanish ascetical theologian, who entered the Capuchins of the province of Castile in 1643, was visitor and commissary general of his Order in Sicily (1678), and died in the early years of the 1700s. He is the author of valuable ascetical-mystical treatises (Retrato divino, Madrid 1685, 1688, 1701; Escuela de la verdad, Madrid 1700), in which he combats the theories of M. Molinos and of other pseudo-mystics of the time. In the book Ente dilucidado (Madrid 1676) he discusses and affirms the possibility of human flight. He spread devotion to the Eternal Father and composed the text of the office and of the Mass for the feast that it was intended to introduce into the liturgy in his honor.
