ARBEO (Arbio, Aribo), bishop of FRISINGA.
Born ca. 723 at Maia, near Merano, he studied at Frisinga (Bavaria), where he later became episcopal chancellor. In 763 he was elected abbot of Scharnitz, and in 765 bishop of Frisinga. He died in 783. He founded monasteries and wrote the lives of s. Emmerano of Ratisbona and s. Corbiniano of Frisinga (ed. in MGH, Script. Rerum Merov., IV, pp. 472–524 and VI, pp. 560–93).
