ANSELMO DI RIBEMONT

ANSELM of RIBEMONT. — Count of Ribemont, near Saint-Quentin (France), a descendant of the counts of Valenciennes, was one of the first crusaders in 1095 with Godfrey of Bouillon, but during the siege of Archas, near Tripoli, he was killed by a stone in 1099. A letter of his on the siege of Antioch is preserved (ed. L. d’Achéry, *Spicilegium*, III, Paris 1723, pp. 431-43).
