ARLOTTO da PRATO. - Franciscan theologian, born in Prato, died in Paris in 1286. He studied in Paris and, having become a « magister », taught theology at least from 1281. From 1282 to 1285 he was provincial of Tuscany, and on 13 May 1285 he was elected minister general of the Order at Milan. He soon died and was buried in the convent of Paris (1286), in the repute of sanctity and learning.
There remains from him a Quaestio disputata (dated 1281) in Cod. lat. 14726 of the National Library of Paris, which also preserves his Sermones. Many writers attribute to A. the Biblical Concordances, which begin with the preface Cuilibet. But these are the third edition of the Concordances of Ugone da S. Caro, prepared by Corrado da Halberstadt, and reprinted many times. A. seems entirely unconnected with this work; but perhaps he put the finishing touch to the moral Concordances, composed by the Friars Minor and erroneously attributed to S. Antonio di Padova.
