Azul, Diocese of

AZUL, DIOCESE of. — In Argentina, a suffragan see of Buenos Aires, in the state of the same name, erected on 20 April 1934 with twenty-three parishes from the diocese of La Plata. Cathedral dedicated to Our Lady of the Rosary. The diocese has an area of 72,936 sq km and comprises 427,500 Catholics out of a population of 450,000; 25 parishes; 49 diocesan and 14 religious priests.
