BAGNO, NICCOLÒ GUIDI di. – Cardinal, brother of Cardinal Giovanni Francesco, b. in Rimini in 1584, he was destined for the priesthood. Abandoning it for family reasons, he devoted himself to military life. He was general of the papal army in the Valtellina War in 1624; governor of the March of Ancona and of the province of Ferrara. In 1642, after the death of his wife, he returned to ecclesiastical life. He was nuncio in France from 1643 to 1656 and was appointed cardinal by Alessandro VII in 1657. D. in Rome on 23 Aug. 1663.
