FRANCESCO BARZAGHI. — Sculptor, born in Milan in 1839, died in 1892. Trained in the school of V. VELÍ, he expressed himself with elegant realism. His activity (especially after the success he achieved at the Paris Exhibition of 1872) was very intense. His monumental works include the statues of Napoleon III, Manzoni, and Verdi in Milan. For the Duomo he carved the statues of Sts. Wenceslaus and Adelaide.
