BERGER, ELIE. – Historian, born in Beaucourt in 1850, died in Paris on 2 April 1925. Professor of palaeography at the École des Chartes, and a member of the philological and historical section of the « Comité des travaux historiques », he took a particular interest in the historical problems of the 12th and 13th centuries.
Among his works are: Les registres d'Innocent IV, recueil des bulles de ce Pape, 4 vols. (Paris 1881–1919); Histoire de Blanche de Castille, reine de France (there 1895); Jacques II d'Aragon, le Saint-Siège et la France, in Journal des savanes, 6 (1908), pp. 281–94, 348–59.
