FRANCESCO MARIA BONADA. — Born on 1 September 1706 in Trinità (Cuneo), in the diocese of Mondovì, died in Rome on 22 December 1755, rector of the Urban College of the “Propaganda Fide.”
He taught rhetoric in Rome and was the first to collect together metric inscriptions, anticipating the work of Kaibel and Bücheler, in an *Anthologia sive collectio omnium veterum inscriptionum poeticarum, tam graecarum quam latine, in antiquis lapidibus sculptarum, in decem classes distributa* (Rome 1751 and 1753). Only 47 of these are Christian, preceded by a treatise *De re funeraria*.
