BRAUNSBERGER, OTTO. - German Jesuit, b. at Füssen (Bavaria) in 1850, d. at Roermond on 26 March 1926; he was ordained a priest in 1874; he entered the Society in 1878.
He published several articles and studies of religious history, but the work of his life was the edition of the correspondence of St. Peter Canisius, in 8 vols. (B. Petri Canisii Epistulae et acta, 8 vols., Freiburg im Breisgau 1896-1923); he left two supplementary volumes in manuscript, still unpublished. In order to finish that edition, he refused to write an extended life of Canisius, but he nevertheless left a profile of him: Petrus Canisius, ein Lebensbild (Freiburg 1917; Italian adaptation by G. De Giovanni, Isola del Liri 1925).
