BRAUNSBERGER, OTTO. — German Jesuit, born at Füssen (Bavaria) in 1850, died at Roermond on 26 March 1926; he was ordained a priest in 1874 and entered the Society in 1878.
He published several articles and studies on religious history, but the work of his life was the edition of the correspondence of s. Pietro Canisio, in 8 vols. (B. Petri Canisii Epistulae et acta, 8 vols., Freiburg im Br. 1896–1923); he left two manuscript volumes of a supplement, still unpublished. In order to complete the said edition, he refused to write an extensive life of Canisio, but nevertheless left a profile of him: Petrus Canisius, au Lebensbild (Freiburg 1917; Italian adaptation by G. De Giovanni, Isola del Liri 1925).
