BROWER (BROUWER), CHRISTOPH. - Jesuit, b. in 1559 at Arnhem (Guelders, Holland), d. at Trier in 1617. He entered the Society of Jesus in 1580, and was rector at Fulda and at Trier. He published studies of ecclesiastical history, such as Fuldensium antiquitatum libri III (Antwerp 1612), and especially the great work of his whole life, on the annals of the ecclesiastical province of Trier, printed at Cologne in 1626, republished in 1670, edited and continued by his confrere Giacomo Masen: Antiquitatum et Annalium Trevirensium libri XXV (2 vols., Liège 1670). Another of his works, Metropolis Ecclesiae Trevericae, likewise revised by Masen, was published in 1855-56 by Cristiano von Stromberg.
