BUONANNI, FILIPPO. – Jesuit, born in Rome on 7 January 1638, died there on 30 March 1725. He was librarian and archivist of the Collegio Romano and distinguished himself in numismatics and statistics. His principal work is Numismata summorum pontificum templi Vaticanis fabricam indicantia (Rome 1696), undertaken on the advice of Msgr. Ciampini (v.); it is the first history of the great Basilica and is adorned with numerous plates.
