CAFARO, PASQUALE. – Musician, born in S. Pietro in Galatina (Lecce) on 8 February 1706, died in Naples on 21 October 1787. He studied music at the Conservatory of the Pietà in Naples, and devoted himself to composing theatrical works, oratorios (Betulia liberata, Il figliol prodigo ravveduto, Il trionfo di David), 4 cantatas, and religious music, including a Stabat Mater of 1785, motets, masses, and psalms. He also wrote didactic works, such as the Solfeggi and the Esercizi sul basso numerato.
