CAFELANDIA, DIOCESI di. — In the Republic of Brazil, State of S. Paulo, suffragan of S. Paulo. It was erected by Pius XI with the bull Ea est in praesenti of 21 June 1926, through the division of the diocese of Botucatu.
It comprises the fertile northwestern region of the State, with an area of 40,000 sq. km. and a population of 1,700,000 inhabitants, of whom 1,500,000 are Catholics, distributed among 42 parishes. The diocesan clergy consists of 43 priests, and there are 23 religious priests. The patroness of the diocese and of the cathedral is St. Elisabetta d'Ungheria.
