CAFELANDIA, Diocese of. — In the republic of Brazil, State of São Paulo, suffragan of São Paulo. It was created by Pius XI with the bull *Ea est in praesenti* of 21 June 1926, by separation from the Diocese of Botucatú.
It comprises the fertile north-western zone of the State, with an area of 40,000 km² and a population of 1,700,000 souls, of whom 1,500,000 are Catholics, distributed in 42 parishes. The diocesan clergy consists of 43 secular priests and 23 regulars. The patroness of the diocese and of the cathedral is St Elizabeth of Hungary.
