CANDOTTI, GIOVANNI BATTISTA. — Musician, born at Codroipo on 19 August 1809, died at Cividale on 11 April 1876. Priest, composer, organist, and maestro di cappella at the collegiate church of Cividale, he was a prolific writer of sacred music in a strict contrapuntal style.
Among his works may be noted a Miserere for two male voices. He also published a dissertation: Sul canto ecclesiastico e sulla musica sacra (Venice 1847), and several monographs on Friulian musicians. He was the teacher of Jacopo Tomadini.
