CANDOTTI, GIOVANNI BATTISTA. – Musician, born in Codroipo on 1 August 1809, died in Cividale on 11 April 1876. A priest, composer, organist, and chapel master at the collegiate church of Cividale, he was a prolific writer of sacred music in a strict contrapuntal style.
Among his works, a Miserere for two male voices is noteworthy. He also published a dissertation: Sul canto ecclesiastico e sulla musica sacra (Venice 1847), as well as several monographs on Friulian musicians. He was the teacher of Jacopo Tomadini.
