CAVALIERI, GIOVANNI MICHELE. — Liturgist of the Order of the Hermits of S. Agostino, born in Bergamo toward the end of the 17th century, died on 6 January 1757. Of keen intellect and rare learning, he was profoundly erudite in ecclesiastical matters.
His principal work is: Commentaria in authentica S. Rituum Congregationis decreta, ad Romanum praesertim Breviarium, Missale et Rituale quomodolibet attinentia (Bergamo 1743–51), dedicated to Benedetto XIV, in which he provides a complete doctrinal interpretation of all the decisions of the Sacred Congregation of Rites from 1578 to 1751 concerning liturgical matters.
