CEREALE. – African bishop of Castellum Ripense, he took part in the religious discussion held at Carthage in 484 between Arian and Catholic bishops. When asked by the Arian bishop Massimino whether he could prove the Catholic thesis with scriptural texts, he composed, in the form of a dialogue, the Libellus contra Maximinum arianum, in which he refutes Massimino’s twenty theses with copious biblical citations: PL 58, 757–68.
