CEREALE. – African bishop of Castellum Rippense, he took part in the religious debate of 484 in Carthage between Arian and Catholic bishops. When questioned by the Arian bishop Maximian as to whether he could prove the Catholic thesis with scriptural texts, he composed in the form of a dialogue the Libellus contra Maximinum arianum, in which he refutes Maximian’s twenty theses with copious biblical citations: PL 58, 757-68.
