CLAUDIUS SEVERUS. – Orator and Peripatetic philosopher, teacher of Marcus Aurelius, who makes honourable mention of him in his *Meditations* (1.14). He must also be the C. S. to whom Fronto recommends his friend Sulpicius Cornelianus. His son bore the same name, married a daughter of Marcus Aurelius, and was consul in 163 and 173. He too was a Peripatetic philosopher and patron of Galen.
