COLLATIO LEGUM MOSAICARUM ET ROMANARUM. - An anonymous pamphlet which compares, in 16 titles, passages from the Old Testament, especially concerning criminal law, with similar provisions of Roman law, concluding that the former have priority and indeed that the latter depend upon them.
It is a bold application in the field of law of the method already widely employed by apologists with respect to moral and philosophical doctrines. It is uncertain whether it was compiled in the early years of the fourth century or between the end of the fourth century

and the beginning of the fifth century. Its author has been sought in Gerolamo, Ambrogio, Rufino, or the Jew Isacco, but without plausible evidence. Perhaps the work has not come down to us in its entirety. The title in the manuscripts is Lex Dei; the current one was given by the editors.
It was discovered in the sixteenth century and first published by Pithou, then by various others, among them Th. Mommsen, in Collectio librorum iuris anteinstinianei, III, Berlin 1890, p. 136 ff.
