« CONSORS PATERNI LUMINIS ». — Hymn of Tuesday’s Matins, composed by St Ambrose. It is a prayer addressed to Christ, bearer of light: it asks this unfailing Light to come and dispel the darkness and put the infernal throngs to flight. The hymn is full of warmth and humility in the prayer that asks Christ for the light of day, a foretaste of the eternal light.
