CONSORS PATERNI LUMINIS

CONSORS PATERNI LUMINIS. - Hymn of Matins for Tuesday, composed by St. Ambrose. It is a prayer that rises to Christ the bearer of light: to this unfailing Light it asks to come and dispel the darkness and put the infernal throngs to flight. The hymn is full of warmth and humility in the prayer that asks Christ for the light of day, a foretaste of the eternal one.
