CONGREGAZIONE DEI SACRI CUORI. — A women’s institute founded at Poitiers in 1797 through the work of the priest Pietro Coudrin and Countess Enrichetta Aymer de la Chevalerie.
It has both a contemplative and an active purpose, with perpetual adoration of the Most Blessed Sacrament. It also has schools for the education of young people, day schools, and facilities for the care of the sick. Its 56 houses are spread throughout Europe, America, and Australia, with more than 1,600 nuns.
