CORELLI, ARCANGELO. – Violinist and composer, born in Fusignano on 17 February 1653, died in Rome on 8 January 1713.
In 1677 he was received in Rome into the household of Cardinal Pamphilj as a music master; three years later he entered the service of Cardinal Ottoboni. First violinist and subsequently director of the concerts at the Cancelleria Palace, he founded a celebrated school from which numerous excellent pupils emerged. His compositions, in six printed works, include trio sonatas: 12 church sonatas, 12 chamber sonatas, and 12 for violins and bass. The work contains the famous «Concerto grosso».
