BARTEI, GIROLAMO. - Musician of the Order of the Augustinians, b. in Arezzo around 1560. The date of his death is not known. From 1592 to 1598 he was choirmaster at the cathedral of Arezzo. He then moved to Florence. From 1604 to 1607 he was at Volterra, and in 1608 he was called to Rome, where he was choirmaster in the church of S. Agostino. He was also organist at Orvieto and at Marino.
He published the Responsori della Settimana Santa, a voci pari, in 1607; Four Messe a otto voci, in 1608; Motteiti a due voci, in 1609; the Concerti a due voci, in 1618; the Ricercari a due voci, in the same year, and the Magnificat a 4 e 5 voci, in 1600.
