His first signed work is a panel with the Madonna enthroned, St. Jerome, and the Blessed John Colombini of 1482, in the Siena Pinacoteca (no. 167); but among the paintings that best represent him are two panels in the church of the Minori Osservanti in Sinalunga, one depicting a Madonna among angels with Saints Simon and Thaddeus (documented in 1483) and the other the Baptism of Christ, signed and dated 1486. In these works, Cozzarelli reveals himself as a close follower of Matteo di Giovanni, with whom he is sometimes confused; however, his figures are more rigid, with angular drapery, heavy shadows, and a much less vivid coloration.
