CRESCI, PIETRO DA FOLIGNO, BEATO

PETER CRISCI of FOLIGNO, Blessed. — Austere ascetic, born ca. the year 1243, died 18 July 1323. He was a Franciscan tertiary and intimate of the Blessed Angela of Foligno. At the age of thirty he distributed all his possessions to the poor, whom he continued to aid with the earnings from services he rendered to masters. He went barefoot, dressed roughly, and subjected himself to rigorous penances; he was a frequent visitor to Santa Maria degli Angeli. He was buried in the cathedral of Foligno. Feast day: 19 July.
