Cresci, Pietro Da Foligno, Blessed

CRESCI, PIETRO da FOLIGNO, blessed. – Austere ascetic, born circa 1243, died on 18 July 1323. He was a Franciscan tertiary and an intimate of blessed Angela da Foligno. At the age of thirty he distributed all his possessions to the poor, whom he continued to assist with the earnings from the services he performed for his employers. He went barefoot, dressed in coarse clothing, and mortified himself with penances; he was a frequent visitor to S. Maria degli Angeli. He was buried in the cathedral of Foligno. Feast day: 19 July.
