CRISTOFORO da VERUCCHIO. - Capuchin preacher and writer of the province of Bologna, formerly a Conventual Minor, born at Verucchio (Forlì), died about 1620.
Through the effectiveness of his preaching he promoted charitable works. He was a master of the spiritual life, especially of meditation, in writings that were widely circulated: Compendio di cento meditazioni sacre sopra tutta la vita et la passione si del Signore come della Madonna, Venice 1592, which had fourteen Italian editions and two Latin ones (ibid. 1596 and Cologne 1605); Esercitij d'anima, etc. (Venice 1596 and 1605), a manual of subjects for meditation and of inner conduct; belonging to local hagiography is the very rare Vita del b. Giovanni Canonico della cattedrale di Rimini e del b. Roberto Malatesta, con altre sacre memorie di Verucchio... con la prima origine della amplissima casa Malatesta (Rimini 1610).
