DIEDO, FRANCESCO. — Venetian humanist gentleman, professor of law at Padua, died at Verona on 25 March 1484.
The Roman Cristoforo Persona, in the preface with which he presents to Giovanni Mocenigo, doge of Venice, his translation of Origen’s books Contra Celsum, recalls him as « vir mirae doctrinae et eloquentiae ». He wrote Epistole, Orazioni, a Vita di s. Rocco confessore, and an’Investiva contro Francesco Barozzi, a philosopher and mathematician contemporary with D. He wrote the Vita di s. Rocco while he was captain of Brescia, to which he dedicated the work itself. These works are now unobtainable.
