Diedo, Francesco

DIEDO, FRANCESCO. - Venetian humanist gentleman, professor of law at Padua, d. at Verona on 25 March 1484.

By the Roman Cristoforo Persona, in the preface with which the latter presents to Giovanni Mocenigo, doge of Venice, the version of the books of Origen Contra Celsum, he is remembered as « vir mirae doctrinae et eloquentiae ». He wrote Epistles, Orations, a Life of St. Roch confessor and an Invective against Francesco Barozzi, philosopher and mathematician, contemporary of D. The life of St. Roch was written by him while he was captain of Brescia, to which he dedicated the work itself. These works are today unobtainable.
