FRANCESCO DIEDO. — Venetian humanist gentleman, professor of law at Padua, died at Verona on 25 March 1484.
From the Roman Cristoforo Persona, in the preface with which he presents to Giovanni Mocenigo, Doge of Venice, the translation of the books of Origen *Contra Eutymium*, he is remembered as “vi mirare doctrina e le eloquenze.” He wrote Letters, Orations, a Life of St Roch the Confessor, and an Invective against Francesco Barozzi, a philosopher and mathematician contemporary with D. He wrote the life of St Roch while he was captain of Brescia, to which he dedicated the work itself. These works are now untraceable.
