CRISPINO, GIUSEPPE. — Canonist and bishop, b. at Roccaguglielma (diocese of Aquino) ca. 1635, d. in 1721. He studied the Filippo Neri school of spirituality in the valuable work: La scuola del gran maestro di spirito s. Filippo Neri (Naples 1675); he was bishop of Bisceglie (1685) and then of Amelia (1690), apostolic delegate of Palestrina (1703), and apostolic visitor of Albano (1704).
He published: Relatio status Ecclesiae Americae ad Clementem XI (Amelia 1702); the Decreti per la visita pastorale (Montefiascone 1704); Trattato della visita pastorale (Venice 1711, reprinted several times, and highly praised by Benedict XIII and Benedict XIV); Bibliotheca manualis iuris ecclesiastici.
