DEL CORONA, PIO ALBERTO

DEL CORONA, PIO ALBERTO. - Dominican, born in Livorno on 5 July 1837, died in Florence on 15 August 1912. Professor, writer, eminent spiritual director, he was elected coadjutor bishop of S. Miniato in 1874 with the right of succession, which he assumed in 1897. In 1906 he resigned from the diocese and retired to the convent of S. Domenico in Fiesole. In 1872 he had founded the Asilo, a new Dominican congregation.

He left many works, in addition to pastoral letters; worthy of mention are: I quattro cardini della felicità secondo s. Tommaso d'Aquino (Florence 1874); Elevazioni sul ministro della Eucaristia raccolte dalle opere di s. Alberto Magno (ibid. 1874); I misteri di G. C. secondo la dottrina di s. Tommaso d'Aquino (3 vols., ibid. 1889-92); Fiori di meditazioni (ibid. 1913).
